#4 -Other Techniques

Other techniques:

There are always new things to try. In fact I have a long list of inspirations. You may not think it but I often use all sorts of household items.

The Dip was created by applying the paint to the canvas in circles, then covering it with a large paper dinner napkin. As the napkin is lifted, the colours blend, and voila! I could see doing a series of 3 or 4 of these in similar colours to fill an empty wall.

The Balloon Kiss is just that. This painting was originally rainbow colours. I was trying to do a Pride swipe, but it just didn't go as planned. Then I tried dipping it into some paint that I had poured off of another painting.  That still didn't look very good, so I tried smushing it with a balloon, and finally found something I was happy with.

Once around the kitchen. I also occasionally work with funnels, a turkey baster, spatulas, a small blow torch (like for creme caramel), squeeze bottles, a lazy-susan/cake spinner, popsicle sticks & bamboo skewers. Anything is fair game!

Coming soon: Pendulum pours. You may have seen these online where a guy has a bucket of paint with a hole in it swinging like a pendulum over a huge canvas, resulting in a spirograph-like design. I haven't perfected this yet and it's now too hot to play in my garage. Stay tuned!
