Inspiration - Ben Arthur
There are a lot of components that go into making art. Inspiration can be both one of the easiest and one of the hardest. Some days I can’t even decide what size of canvas I want, let alone what I want to do with it. And if I’m not feeling it on days like these, I’m learning to go do something else. But now that I’ve been painting for a little while, I can find inspiration for colours, or shapes, or styles, in so many unexpected places.
I don’t usually do representational art because frankly, I’m not that good at it. I much prefer abstract. But this painting is <<very loosely>> based on a photo by actor & photographer Richard Rankin that I saw on his Instagram feed. It is of Ben Arthur, more commonly known as The Cobbler, a Corbett peak in the southern highlands of Scotland on a grey, dreich autumn day.
